Studio Corkinho
Studio Corkinho is a Belgium-based design studio with roots in the cork landscapes of Portugal, developing sustainable interior solutions grounded in natural materials. Drawing from the Alentejo region’s cork heritage, the brand works with a strong connection to tradition, craftsmanship and respect for resources.
At the core of Corkinho’s practice is cork – a living material carefully harvested from oak trees, where the bark is removed without harming the tree. This practice, passed down through generations, forms the foundation for collections that combine raw materiality with a calm, contemporary aesthetic.
Materials and sensoriality
Corkinho works with reclaimed cork remnants, refined into new objects through a process where craftsmanship and innovation operate side by side. Surfaces and products carry visible traces of the material’s origin while maintaining a distinct tactile quality. The collections range from tiles to textile elements and objects, shaping spaces characterised by warmth, depth and a grounded presence. The materials introduce a sensory dimension, where texture, scent and presence are closely connected.
The underlying idea
Corkinho develops products with the intention of supporting well-being and a sense of grounding. The objects are not only aesthetic elements, but part of the spatial experience – where material, body and surroundings meet. This approach reflects a desire to reinterpret traditional materials and techniques through a contemporary design language, where sustainability and function are closely aligned.
