Truffer AG is a family-owned quarry and manufacturer based in Vals, Switzerland, where working with natural stone has been part of everyday life since 1983. Here, the iconic Vals quartzite is extracted and processed – a rare, layered natural stone known for its durability and its calm, refined colour palette. The stone moves between shades of grey and grey-green, creating a harmonious expression across both large and small surfaces. As a fully integrated producer, Truffer manages the entire process, from extraction in the local quarry to processing and finishing in their own workshop in Vals. This unified approach ensures consistent quality and a deep respect for the origin of the material. Today, the Truffer family continues to run the company across generations, with a strong focus on architecture, design and long-lasting solutions. Their interest in form and materiality is also reflected in the company’s own headquarters, designed by Kengo Kuma, where Vals quartzite is used with precision and restraint.
