VILLA DT

BALEN, BELGIUM

PRIVATE HOUSE BALEN

The design of the new house is inspired by the traditional longhouse farms common in Belgium’s De Kempen region. “A typical farm with a large barn once stood here,” says Wattecamps. “The main building is a modern take on that style, while the pool house and garage echo the old hay barn. The white buildings reflect the whitewashed walls that once enclosed the property, ensuring privacy.”

AIM Architects chose Mosa’s reddish-brown Core Collection Terra tiles for their resemblance to the original roof tiles. To match the traditional roof design, the contractor cut the tiles to size and installed them in an overlapping pattern with aluminium clips, ensuring both durability and aesthetic consistency.
