Moon Jar

Sculptural in form and shaped by natural material, the Moon Jar Vase in travertine is a study in balance and simplicity. Its rounded shape is inspired by the traditional Korean moon jar, first made during the Joseon dynasty. Originally crafted in white porcelain, moon jars were used as everyday storage vessels for things like rice, grains, or liquids. Despite their practical purpose, they were valued for their soft, imperfect shape and quiet beauty, often slightly uneven where the two halves were joined. Reinterpreted here in solid travertine, each vase is unique, with natural variations in texture, soft veins, and small pores that give it character. The smooth, curved form contrasts with the raw surface, creating a calm and grounded feel. Both a functional vase and a decorative object, it works beautifully on its own or with simple arrangements.
